Improving Community Resilience with Sustainable, Walkable Design

Join the USVI Walkability Institute and the University of the Virgin Islands Hazard Mitigation Planning team for an inter-active discussion on how to achieve sustainable development through modes of transportation, lifestyle, mental and physical well-being in the US Virgin Islands. Utilizing Walkability to Support Workplace Safety and Increase Foot Traffic

Join the USVI Walkability Institute and staff from the UVICELL’s Safety in Paradise to discuss how businesses can bridge the gap between safety and walkability to increase foot traffic to their storefront. Learn about OSHA’s rules for Walking-Working surfaces and fall protection standards, including preventative measures to reduce incidents and the financial impact of injuries to the employer. The webinar will also explore how to design and create a safe environment to accommodate bikes, pedestrians walking from parking areas to the building safely; how efforts support physical activity, and the need to implement a Complete Streets policy for the US Virgin Islands.
